The Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Lagos Waste Management Authority, Mr Ibrahim Odumboni, has instructed residents and traders in the Ajiran community in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area to take responsibility for their waste in order to achieve a clean and sustainable environment.
According to a Lagos State statement, Odumboni gave the charge during a meeting with Ajiran Community Monarch, HRM Oba Tijani Akinloye, CDA/CDC representatives and other community stakeholders. .
He urged attendees to patronize designated PSP operators and pay their waste bills promptly as there was nowhere in the world where waste management services were free. Odunbomi also warned that further environmental infractions by community residents would attract the full weight of the law.
LAWMA technical director Dr Olohunwa Tijani said some shops have already been sealed off in the neighborhood for careless waste disposal and other environmental violations to deter potential violators.
